The Bowls of Wrath and the 10 Plagues on Egypt
Principles and Applications
II. Wrath Dispensed: Judgment Poured Out (16:1-16)
- Principle: Before the Arrival of God’s Day of Wrath there is still time to Repent.
- Application: How are you challenged or convicted knowing that God gives sinners every opportunity to repent and yet, many refuse to do so?
- Scripture Reference
7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly people.
8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:7-9 (NASB 2020)
III. Epilogue of Wrath: Judgment Consummated (16:17-21)
- Principle: God’s Day of Wrath on Unrepentant Sinners is Justified.
- Application: Who needs to hear from you about the severity and certainty of God’s judgment? Who needs to know that there is still time to repent and turn to Jesus?
- Scripture Reference
6 For after all it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,
7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us, when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels
8 in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
9 These people will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
II Thessalonians 1:6-9 (NASB 2020)
