Outline and Lesson Goal

Principles and Applications

I. Nineveh’s Infinite Shame (Nahum 3:1-7)

  • Principle: Great Sins bring Great Shame and Sorrow.
  • Application: Is there anything in your life that if known would bring shame to you and your God? What will it take for you to fully repent from your sins?
  • Scripture Reference

17 Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,
18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
Revelation 3:17-18 (NASB)

II. Nineveh’s Incurable Wound (Nahum 3:8-19)

  • Principle: The Great Wound of Sin can only be Healed by a Great Savior.
  • Application: Have you dealt with the fatal wound of sin? Only Christ can fully heal you. Have you come to Him in repentance for your sins?
  • Scripture Reference

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross.
31 He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5:30-31 (NASB)
