Introduction to II Thessalonians

In today’s episode, we are beginning the second part of our series: “Encouragement for Troubled Times”.

We have 2 studies in this series:

I Thessalonians: Persevering in Holiness, Steadfast in Hope
II Thessalonians: Watching, Waiting, Working

We concluded the study in I Thessalonians back in December. In this episode, we are getting started without our study in II Thessalonians.

The Apostle Paul established the Thessalonian church during his second missionary journey where he was accompanied by Silas, Timothy, and Dr. Luke.

Paul’s ministry in Thessalonica was fruitful even though he had to leave the city due to persecution. However, he had invested his very life in the young church and he loved them dearly.

After departing the city, Paul wrote the 2 Thessalonian letters to his beloved flock at Thessalonica.

The letters are written from the perspective of a faithful pastor encouraging his congregation to grow spiritually and to endure tribulation and persecution with the great hope of the return of Jesus Christ.

We are now ready for our study of II Thessalonians. Let’s get started.
